Annual FOSSSIL Workshops

Apart from the usual activities of the Society, at least one major workshop is held every year. In 2007, two workshops on Semantics of Tense and Aspect of Indian Languages (STAIL) were held in cooperation with CIIL and University of Delhi.

The workshops are meant to provide the participants a focussed exposure to specific topics over a period of 10-12 days. The workshops also provide the opportunity to interact with experts in the field and to arrange for one-to-one appointments on a chosen topic, most often on the topic of research of the student participant.

The next workshop will be conducted by Prof Veneeta Dayal of the Rutgers University on the Semantics of Indefinites in July 2007. Another workshop on Case with Prof. Miriam Butt of the Universität Konstanz is being negotiated. The Society also plans to hold workshops on the Semantics Mood and one on the Syntax of Clefts. Anyone interested in participating in a workshop or in holding one, may please write to the secretary@fosssil.in for further information.
